Sabrina the GOAT

In 2019, Sabrina Ionescu was must-see TV. She was torching opposing teams, night in, night out. I mean, she led the Oregon Ducks to an exhibition win over Team USA. The stepbacks, the scowls and her Mamba-like Mentality inspired me. I pitched this passion project to Director Matt Wilcox, owner of Blue Ox, via text and we went and made it happen. That meant finding a goat farm in Oregon that could double as Romania, then finding a Romanian who could pretend to be a goat farmer and then finding a wardrobe that a Romanian farmer would wear. We went to great lengths to tell the story authentically. Ultimately, the Covid-19 pandemic cut Oregon’s title run short, ended Sabrina’s collegiate career and left us all wondering what if. But we’ll always have the memories and this piece that pays homage to one of the greatest collegiate basketball players of all time.
