JUST DO IT
JUST DO IT
I’ve been obsessed with Nike for as long as I can remember. I marked up every Eastbay catalog I got, went to my local sneaker shop every week just to look and spent class drawing my own shoe designs. I remember seeing the Frozen Moment Jordan commercial on TV and talking about Lil’ Penny on the playground. Less than a couple decades later, I was the Voice of @Nike, motivating millions and bringing inspiration to athletes* everywhere.
I defined Nike’s voice on social, leading with history & heritage and leaning into the irreverent, fun, inclusive and aspirational tone that defined the brand in the first place. I turned out world-class creative for Super Bowls, Wimbledons, National Championships and the World Cup. We set industry standards, best practices and led with storytelling that still holds up today.
As senior writer, I controlled all outbound communication, managed a team of junior writers to listen & respond from Nike’s main brand channels and set brand and content strategy. Whether it was real-time sport moment reactives or a motivational post on Monday mornings, I delivered under the tightest timelines and the highest pressure.
Maybe it’s because Nike was built by a couple of Oregon boys and Duck alums, like myself, or the signature athletes who defined my youth, but something inside me always felt a deep connection to the brand. Growing up, I always thought I would be a Nike athlete when I grew up. But being Nike’s voice was the next best thing.
