KOBE XI

I didn’t go to the League out of high school. I never laced it up for the Lakers or threw a lob to Shaq. I never won the MVP or the Larry O’Brien. But that didn’t stop me from finding Kobe’s voice and ghostwriting like I was the Black Mamba himself.

With his final season tipping off and the Kobe XI launching, I concepted and ghostwrote an 11-part journal for Nike.com of lessons Kobe learned throughout his legendary career. Each lesson coincided with a Kobe XI drop and on his farewell tour, Kobe would inscribe the lesson titles, and a personal note, on Kobe XIs and gift them to up & coming players who embodied the Mamba Mentality. And when Kobe wrote his iconic, “Dear Basketball” Players’ Tribune piece, I came up with a reply from (Nike) Basketball. Throughout the project, I tried to honor Kobe’s legacy and the work means even more to me now.
